August 18 from 2018 - 07: 59

The Territorial Commission of Urbanism of the Ministry of Housing, Public Works and Vertebration of the Territory has issued a report contrary to the construction of the International College designed by the promoter, Euro Montgó SA in a plot of the EATIM Jesús Pobre.

A resolution that has been released by the mayor of the EATIM, Javier Scotto, by the members of the Associació de Veïns i veïnas de Jesús Pobre, María Rosa Costa and Fabián Listerri. The Conselleria discards the approval of the Declaration of Community Interest (DIC), the project for environmental reasons.

The land where the school was intended to be built is not developable, so it cannot be used for a use that is not agricultural or the use of natural resources. According to Javier Scotto, this was ignored by himself Party and the Business Circle of the Marina Alta (CEDMA), who supported this project from the beginning and criticized the actions carried out by the residents of the municipality.

Serious environmental impact

The Environment report warns that the implementation of the International School would have a strong impact on the agricultural landscape and the irreversible occupation of the free spaces around Jesús Pobre, altering the natural characteristics of these spaces and colliding with the general objectives of the declaration. of Natural Park Montgó.

Scotto himself commented that the company did not present the Environment report as it is mandatory. Also, I point out that, "the urbanizable surface would be more than 58.000 square meters, that is, the same one that has the urban nucleus of the EATIM".

The neighbors do not go against anyone

Neighbors neighbors have reacted, happy and happy before the refusal to build this school, because according to María Rosa Costa, "is the way to keep the town alive and in accordance with its roots as always".

Listerri explained that they do not go against anyone, but understand that the people defend themselves when they feel attacked, for this the important thing is that the public interest prevails before that of the private individuals. The neighbors prefer to find compatible projects that can generate activity without that great impact.

Javier Scotto extended his hand to the promoters of the international school project by saying that, "We are open to studying other projects that are compatible with the natural park and with the will of the neighbors. Activities that fit into the agricultural and forestry uses of the area would be the best, such as the creation of an oil mill".
