On May 24, downtown La Mistelera hosts the charity event for the association Trench Town Reading Center, Kingstone, Jamaica, the Reaggae Whitebait Festival.

The festival includes performances throughout the day, from 12 noon until late in the morning. Two spaces have been enabled. On the one hand, there will be a terrace and garden area where there will be, in addition to a lot of music, food stalls, flea market, Radio Mistelera stand, talks, interviews and much more. The second of the available spaces will be Dub zone, a closed space where the self-built sound system of "4MAN ARMY" of 6000w will be located. With 4 superscoops, where you can enjoy the best Dub with a special and spectacular sound.

The Reading Center is an initiative of the community of Trench Town, opened in 1993 as a small library, carrying books and information to undertake a fight against the high illiteracy rate (estimated at 70-80%).

In addition to the library, the Center offers literacy programs for children and adults, workshops in creative arts, poetry, theater, help with homework, games and educational entertainment, groups of readers, storytelling, summer school and when possible, excursions for children.

Trench Town

Trench Town is a "ghetto" neighborhood of Kingston, is known worldwide for being "the cradle of reggae", home to many famous musicians including Bob Marley & The Wailers.

Also important for being the place where it was centralized and developed the Rastafari movement in the Jamaican capital.
In addition to the hundreds of musicians who have left the streets of Trench Town, many influential and talented in other fields, athletes, politicians, painters, actors, people come from this small neighborhood.
