Relatives and friends of a patient from La Pedrera gather funds for the construction of a pergola

04 July 2018 - 10: 36

Brian Clark lived his last months as a patient of the HACLE of La Pedrera. Six months of struggle in which he was accompanied by his wife, Linn, at all times. When Brian died, Linn asked a favor to those who attended the funeral: that they did not buy flowers and, in exchange, they would collaborate financially to install a pergola that patients and relatives had a shade in which to enjoy the outdoors in the hospital.

Linn's appeal came to the association Help Denia & Marina Alta and the Lion Club of Teulada Moraira, who joined the cause to make Linn's request come true.

This Wednesday morning, the new pergola was a party. A celebration of the generosity of the groups involved and a tribute to Brian and all the patients who have passed through the Hospital. From now on, all of them will be able to enjoy this new outdoor space.

For Jaume Morera, director of the Hospital, the help of groups and associations is always welcome. This action is framed in the improvement of humanization in care, and represents a leap in quality in the lives of patients and family members.

Candy Wright, from Help Dénia & Marina Alta, told the story of the donation, for which the association's volunteers donated more than 3.000 euros.

For her part, Laura Hinstead, president of the Teulada Moraira Lion Club, said that "It has been a pleasure to participate in this project". The club has contributed 3.000 euros and the enthusiasm of all its members to be able to collaborate with a cause of this style.

From now on, a plaque will remember the figure of Brian Clark and the donation made by his family and friends, as well as the collaboration of Help Dénia & Marina Alta and the Lion Club.

Hello, I am the President of HELP of Denia and Marina Alta. They could include that the other part of the purchase of more than 3000 euros is paid by us from HELP so at least the people who are volunteers and those who make donations know the help they have made. Thanks Candida Wright
