Falla Centro: history, first monuments and commissions

La Falla Centro presides over the heart of Dénia with one of the founding commissions of the city's festivals. Every year it is among the favorites to win the prizes, so it was no surprise that it was included in the Special Section when they divided the Fallas In two categories.

History

In the year 1947, and taking the witness of the Penya del Tio Pep, a large group of falleros were encouraged to carry out the fallera party in the Center district of the city of Dénia. With the help of part of the neighbourhood, and realizing perhaps too soon what it meant to carry out a commission, falleros and falleras prepared a first year of celebration in the neighbourhood. Together with the Marítimo and Roques districts, the festivities began in Dénia.

In 1948 the Center failure, with Leonardo Denia and Lolita Gualde as top positions, planted its first monument at the intersection of Marqués de Campo and Cándida Carbonell streets. This strange location, to this day, was due to the fact that Tio Pep's Penya was going to plant its second fault in Glorieta, Current location of the Center fails.

Period without plantà

In the 1959-1960 financial year, the reluctance of the "lifelong" falleros, due to the difficulty of the times, led the commission not to plant a monument. However, this vacuum prompted the younger people to push the commission forward a year later. After that, six more years came without planting a falla, without a party in the streets of Dénia, until in 1966 the second and definitive stage of the Fallas began in the city.

Since then, the Center failure has stood out for aspiring and obtaining first prizes for monuments on numerous occasions. Currently, since the commissions were divided into two categories, it competes in the Dénia Fallas Special Section, reserved for the districts with the most expensive jobs.

The Center fault plants its monuments in the nerve center of the city, in the area known as Els Quatre Cantons. This is next to the Glorieta del País Valencià, at the beginning of the Calle Marques de Campo. A place, without a doubt, privileged.
