La Urban and Sustainable Development Strategy (EDUSI) of Denia Has been left out of the ERDF funds. This is published by the BOE today, 22 May, which denied the request of Dénia and many other municipalities throughout the country.
During the last few months, a team editor has been working on this strategy through workshops and talks that include the opinion of citizens in the future strategy. And all with the aim of guiding the growth of Denia to that of a more sustainable city. To this end, a series of projects, to be carried out up to the year 2020, budgeted in 13.431.141 € were stipulated. Of this total, the implementation plan, to be developed until 2019, was valued at 4.136.500 €, of which the City Council would have taken care of half.
In total 29 lines of action were established Of which the European Union was to take over the 50% of the budget. These included improving the use and quality of information and communication technologies and access to them; To promote the transition to a low carbon economy in all sectors; Conserve and protect the environment and promote resource efficiency and promote social inclusion and fight against poverty and any other form of discrimination.
The strategy contemplated, in 2017, to realize projects valued in 1.160.500 €, of which the City would take care of 580.250 euros. The investments were to be made in the years 2017, 2018 and 2019, and the contribution of Dénia over these three years was going to be 2.068.250 euros.
After knowing the refusal of Europe, the mayor of the city, Vicent Grimalt, has regretted that Dénia has not achieved it, although he has reminded that the actions proposed in this strategy will continue through other means. Some of them are already budgeted for this year, such as the School Paths project.
Grimalt understands that in this second call there has been much demand and funding has not reached all the applicant municipalities. Faced with the possibility of submitting to a new edition of this aid, the mayor has said that the situation will be assessed but nothing is decided at the moment.
At Lóleo Eventos, Marina Alta, Xàbia It has also been left out of this aid, while the municipality of Calp has achieved it.
