City 11, SDG detectives is the name of a project developed, at the initiative of the Red Cross, by CEIP Montgó students with the aim that the youngest get involved in the analysis of how to contribute, in the city, to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals ( Agenda 2030) in general and in particular to objective number 11: to make Dénia an inclusive, sustainable and resilient city.
The Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, participated Friday in the presentation of the project, held at the Social Center and took the opportunity to share with the children the basic lines of the work that the city council is also carrying out in the field of SDGs.
"The City Council of Dénia is currently working on the diagnosis of all local public policies, which has to be closed with a plan to locate and implement the SDGs in the coming months."
As an example of the implementation of objective 11, in which schoolchildren have worked, the mayor highlighted the redevelopment actions, "such as the one on Calle Mayor, Plaza de Valgamedios and adjacent ones, or the future redevelopment of Glorieta, the streets of La Vez and Ramón y Cajal and the improvement of Marqués de Campo ”.
City 11, SDG detectives During the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic years, the fifth and sixth grade students of Primary del Montgó have been involved in a research project that has included, among other actions, interviews with city council professionals.
In conclusion, the boys and girls have proposed to the council the creation of more bike lanes, measures to reduce pollution, increase police control, improve street signs, the creation of more parks for adolescents (with climbing walls and skate), publish books on monuments and historical material of Dénia, improve the lighting of the castle, improve Internet access in the city, etc.
The project City 11, SDG detectives It is an example of future dissemination actions to citizens and schoolchildren of the location and implementation plan of the 2030 Agenda in Dénia.
