Nurses at the Health Center with the Red Cross teach swimmers caring for diabetic foot

Sandra Noguera and Cristina Martínez, both nurses from the basic area of ​​Dénia, have participated together with the local Red Cross team, in a health prevention and promotion campaign on the Dianense beach of the Marineta Casiana.

The professionals of the Department of Health of Dénia have informed the bathers, during this month of August, about the care that must be put into practice, both for the treatment of diabetic foot and to prevent pathology.

Tips

If you are diabetic, hyperglycemia can favor the presence of plaques in the blood vessels that lead to the so-called diabetic foot. To fight it you must:

• Perform short-term baths
• Apply neutral soaps and soft mittens
• Do not use callicides, tape, pliers or nail clippers
• Avoid tights with garters and oppressing socks
• Wear soft leather shoes with round toes and no heels
• Visit the podiatrist frequently
• Stay away from heat sources
• Do not walk barefoot
• Walk daily
