One of the points where the greatest confusion has been perpetuated today, and which has always been a "hard nut to crack" for citizens since the state of alarm was decreed, is how it affects vehicle travel.
According to the publication of the DOGV of July 18 on the mandatory use of masks in the Valencian Community, the regulations affect private land passenger cars as follows:
- In motorcycles, mopeds and category L vehicles in general, which are provided with 2 approved seats -driver and passenger-, 2 people may travel.
- In complementary private transport of people in vehicles of up to 9 seats, including the driver, as many people as seats of the vehicle may travel.
- In public passenger transport in vehicles of up to 9 seats, including the driver, it is allowed to occupy all the rear seats of the vehicle, as well as those offered in the driver's seat row, when the seats have been previously exhausted. rear.
- In the optional discretionary and private passenger bus transport in which all occupants must be seated, all seats may be used. When the level of occupation permits, maximum separation will be sought between users.
- In all cases provided for in this section, the use of a mask by all persons occupying the vehicles will be mandatory., except when all the occupants of the vehicle live at the same address.
Is the mask mandatory when traveling by bike?
Despite the fact that the DOGV does not specify whether the mask is also mandatory for cycling, the authorities have confirmed to Dénia.com that it must be worn in these cases as with motorcycles and mopeds. They are only exempt from use in the event of cycling sports practice, not for use as a means of transport.
