In what will the Dénia City Council invest the 72 million euros of its 2023 budget?

February 13 from 2023 - 18: 22

The general budget proposal of the Dénia City Council for the year 2023 will be submitted for debate and voting by the Plenary of the Corporation on Thursday. This morning, the Councilor for the Treasury, Paco Roselló, and the Councilor for Territory and Urban Quality, Maria Josep Ripoll, have presented at a press conference the basic lines of the municipal accounts for this year, which amount to €71.186.813.

The overall figure represents an increase of 0,55% (€383.386) compared to 2022, resulting from “the positive evolution of the activity at the local level”. Roselló stressed that this trend is evident, for example, in the increase in collection by the ICIO, the tax on construction, installations and works, which last year far exceeded the €1.900.000 initially forecast, reaching €2.800.000. €,XNUMX.

Therefore, this year, in the income chapter, a collection amounting to €2.300.000 has been foreseen. In fact, the Councilor for Territory has confirmed that in 2022 170 major works licenses were requested, compared to the hundred that used to be requested in previous years.

Another important entry in the income chapter is the aid from European Next Generation funds: €1.966.514, which will be used to carry out the large works included in the new investment section. Maria Josep Ripoll has highlighted the €200.000 for the drafting of the classroom project for the future university campus and the implementation of the degree in Gastronomy; €884.000 for the redevelopment of the old ambulatory site; and the million euros to make Bosc de Diana a reality.

Also noteworthy, in the investment chapter (which has a total budget of €6.406.337, 4 million less than last year when a good part of the Generalitat Building Plan was completed), the reserve of more than 1 million euros to carry out the winning citizen proposals of the latest editions of the Participatory Budgets: open sports courts (€120.000), a pedestrian itinerary at the foot of the Montgó (€60.000), shaded areas in playgrounds (€100.000), public fountains (€20.000), improvements in the environment Joan Fuster pavilion (100.000), the park of slides in the Chabàs park (142.000), the 'pump truck' (86.000), a circuit for runners (30.000), the change of the paving of Paseo de la Marineta (170.000), the picnic area and the of children's games in the Bosc de Diana (150.000) and the improvement of the Pou de la Muntanya path (130.000).

Also included are the items corresponding to the 2023 annuity of works already underway, such as the redevelopment of Glorieta and Calle Marques de Campo, the completion of the Valgamedios square, the rehabilitation of the Torrecremada estate and the restoration of the Verger Baix del castle. And pending projects for 2022, postponed due to the problems derived from the general increase in prices: the roundabouts of Pintor Llorens with Marquesat and the Santa Llúcia junction; the urbanization of the Camino de la Bota and the accesses to the new CEE Raquel Payà; the new playground of Les Bassetes and the lighting of Nova Dénia and Fènix street.

Likewise, €160.000 is budgeted for the improvement of the children's playgrounds on the Cervantes esplanade, the Health Center and the current children's play area in Chabàs Park, which will be adapted for the little ones, boys and girls from 0 to 3 years.

Lastly, an item of 10 million euros will go towards drawing up the project and construction of the new residence for the elderly (included in the Generalitat's Living Together Plan).

More than €700.000 for social benefits

In the chapter on current transfers, the increase to €730.000 in the amount earmarked for different types of social aid such as emergency aid, school canteen aid and the purchase of textbooks stands out. This amount is €191.000 more than the amount budgeted in 2022 for this same concept.

Contributions to the Xara and Jesús Pobre EATIMs also increased (with total transfers of €865.000 and €551.000, respectively); and the money allocated to the Zonal Plan Waste Consortium (2.571.000, after this year's increase of €877.000).

The Councilor for the Treasury also explained that the early repayment of loans from the annual remnants have allowed the municipal debt forecast for the end of 2023 to not exceed 32% (around 18 million euros), far from 110 % that the law imposes as a limit.

In this sense, he recalled that despite the reduction in interest by €110.000 with the amortization made in 2022, these have increased by €335.000 due to a new final judgment of urban use.

They could also fix and light up Carrer de la Fragata, which at night is a pitchfork and the holes it has on the road are unpresentable. Fix all that land next to María Ibars, build a skate park or something because that area is really pathetic and so many gazebo arrangements the same thing every year and so that in the end it always stays the same.

Hopefully they can finally repair Cami Pou De La Muntanya. It is a main road to the Montgó and it is in terrible condition.
