Today the term opens for the citizens of Dénia to make proposals to change and improve public spaces. Participatory Budgets are a participation mechanism that is now in its fifth edition. Proposals can contain ideas on urban furniture such as benches, signs, sidewalks, asphalt or parks, in which the city council has powers. And they can be done in various ways, although this year due to the health situation, the main ways are online courses. The deadline for proposing improvements is from 1 to 28 for February.
How to make proposals for Participatory Budgeting
For now, the meetings of neighborhood councilors, in which proposals were usually collected, have been suspended. With the entry into force of the restrictions and the worsening of the health situation, the bulk of participation will be digital. These are the ways to launch ideas:
- En participadenia.es
- With the mobile app AppDénia
- In the email Pciutadana@ayto-denia.es
However, a mailbox in the Portelles Participation Area, in Calle Pare Pere 17. There you can deposit the brochure that will be distributed to homes throughout Dénia, which contains a part to fill out with the idea.
In practice: what has been done thanks to Participatory Budgeting?
Citizens' proposals go to a study phase by municipal technicians, who assess their viability. Those selected are put to a vote, and the winners are those that are carried out. These are some examples of the actions carried out in Dénia thanks to previous editions of the Budgets: installation of mirrors for drivers, renovation of banks, resurfacing of streets and installation of a parking lot for bicycles.
