The sea storm left 160 tons of algae in Raset, Marineta and Trampolí

14 July 2021 - 12: 21

The first sea storm of the summer was experienced during the day yesterday, forcing to prohibit swimming in most of the beaches dianenses. For a while, all the aid stations except Punta del Raset They raised the red flag to warn of strong currents and waves of more than 2 meters.

And after the storm, as usual, the dirt arrives. Tons of seaweed and posidonia have accumulated along the Dénia coastline, forcing cleaning services to work non-stop at night.

A total of 160 tons have been removed, all of it concentrated on the beaches of Punta del Raset (20 tons), Marineta Cassiana (110) and El Trampolí (30). During the next few days you will continue the work along the entire coast, for which the City Council has asked for patience: "the posidonia deposited on the beach is nothing more than a sign of good health and the biodiversity that characterizes the waters".

The tremendous thing is not the Posidonia, it is the amount of garbage that night after night some people "forget" on the Punta Raset breakwater: glass, plastic, tetrabrick bottles, now a lot of mask and remains of everything ..., thus the copies of rats are the size of a rabbit, it is very sad to see the insufficient investment in maintenance and cleaning resources, the shortage of garbage cans and containers, cleaning people do 20 km each, with two buckets and a broom…., without comments. Denia IS DIRTY and the image is abandoned.

  2. Pedro says:

It is good to remove seaweed and posidonia from beaches. Due to marine storms, the sea is renewed, cleansed and deposits what it no longer needs on the beaches.

  3. Luis says:

Wasn't there a project to transform all that material into Biofuel? What happened to that story?
