Since the beginning of this month, Dénia has become the setting for the new film by Óscar Aibar, The substitute, in which actors of the stature of Ricardo Gómez (Tell), Vicky Luengo (star of the acclaimed miniseries just released Riot gear, by Rodrigo Sorogoyen) and Pere Ponce (Snow White).
It is a great Spanish production where the story of the high Nazi officials who took refuge on the Costa Blanca after World War II, welcomed by the Franco regime, will be narrated for the first time in the cinema.
The production company has chosen the city of Dénia for its strong link to these historical events, and this has led them to shoot in different parts of the city, from the Baix la Mar neighborhood to Les Roques. During the last day, the chosen location was Marqués de Campo and its surroundings, filming even inside the Buigues clinic.
However, for such deployment they have had to request permission from the City Council to use the site of the old ambulatory, opposite Toy Museum, as temporary parking for team vehicles. This has not sat entirely well with some residents who since this summer have had hundreds of parking spaces withdrawn, especially in the same Marqués de Campo that has been closed to traffic since then.
Mayor, Vicent Grimalt, during his appearance yesterday afternoon live through Facebook to answer the questions of the neighbors, he took the issue away by claiming that it is a minor concession due to the need of the producer.
It is still unknown what will be the future of said site and of the Marqués de Campo itself with respect to its pedestrianization, although everything indicates that the second will have a definitive pedestrianization and the unforeseen parking lot will become a green area.

I do not care if they use the lot as parking, it is more appreciated if it were to be digested like this, but street merchants are dying because of having the street closed to traffic. It is not the time, people come to do business or doctors with their car and see us and buy, drink coffee, etc ... and now they prefer to go to other places such as the shopping center. At this moment, without tourism, we live in neighboring towns and they need their car to come to Denia.
People don't buy fields on the street because it's cheaper elsewhere, not because the street is closed, that's absurd… do people go where it's cheaper?
