The socialist Herick Campos claims that the central government has forgotten the project of the desalination plant in Dénia

17 July 2015 - 00: 05

The socialist deputy and provincial deputy general secretary, Herick Campos, has denounced that the cuts in the Popular party are generating that there are municipalities in the regions of the Marina Alta and the Marina Baixa, which do not have a guaranteed water supply throughout the day.

According to Campos, this shortage is due to the policies carried out by the Partido Popular, which in the Marina Alta illustrates two clear examples: on the one hand, the expansion of the desalination plant in Xàbia through an agreement with ACUAMED through which the company would cover the expenses, and on the other, the construction of a desalination plant in Dénia.

According to Campos, these projects were parked when the PP entered the central government in 2011. The deputy has denounced that the Dénia desalination plant disappears from the general State budgets in 2012 and 2013, reappearing in 2014 with €275.000, to return to disappear in 2015, without a single euro being invested in pipes within the region or its connection with others.

Although in this area water supply is guaranteed, Campos asked Herik "that measures and actions be taken in the medium term so as not to drain the aquifers of reserve and provide permanent water autonomy to the Marina Alta, retaking the ACUAMED-Xàbia agreement and a new distribution network".
