The Senior Female wins the preferred Championship on a day marked by COVID

January 10 from 2022 - 12: 41

Only three of the five Junior and Senior category teams from Dénia Básquet They were able to play their matches on this first post-Christmas day that began in 2022. The Senior Male 1st National and Junior Female Preferred teams had their matches postponed due to the appearance of positive cases in the teams they had to face.

For their part, the three teams that continued with their confrontations did so with the squads depleted by the confinements, being able to present only eight licenses in each of the cases for the dispute of their commitments.

Perhaps the most sensible thing would have been not to have disputed this day given the alarming general increase in the incidence of the pandemic in the country as a whole. The short margin of time to react to the news of infections in the hours before the meetings did not contribute to making things easier either.

Senior Women Basketball

Denia Básquet's Senior Women's team began the second part of the season beating Benissa (29-51) in their displacement. Despite having only six players in the squad, who were reinforced by two components of the Junior team, those of Juan Luis Pérez they played a very smart game going to more during the course of it.

Zone 2-3 of the locals created problems for us in some sections of the match, but the sum of our success from the triple and above all of our constant defensive intensity, gave us an increasingly favorable margin of points on the scoreboard that ensured to be able to start the Preferred Championship on the right foot.

Good attitude from all the players and an opportunity perfectly taken advantage of by our Juniors Nayra and Marybel, who became very important in the team's rotation from the first moment without falling out of tune at any time.

Senior Male Preferred

The Preferred Senior Male team could not start 2022 as well as they would have liked when they were defeated in the Picanya pavilion (67-50) in a match with two very different parts. In the morning of the same day of the meeting it was confirmed that only eight of the fifteen players that make up the squad would be available for their dispute, but logically there was no longer the possibility of postponing it.

The team started soulless without knowing how to adapt to the circumstances, and a very successful and intense Picanya knew how to take advantage of the situation by distancing himself on the scoreboard, leaving us in very low numbers at halftime.

With the crash practically sentenced, our team shot with pride and entered the game by accepting the physical level that our rival demanded, managing to compete with them during the second half in all facets of the game in which they had dominated us in the first.

It was not enough to turn the result around, but it was enough to show ourselves what we are capable of, and thus surely start an upward trend in the team's trend in this first-round final in the recently launched Preferred category.

Junior Male Preferred

The Preferred Junior Male team made Joan Fuster a real "more difficult still" by beating CB Oliva (69-44) since the match was crucial for the goal of permanence and throughout the day casualties were known for his disputes until leaving eight the number of players that Rubén Velázquez could line up in the minutes.

Without a doubt the key was in the perseverance and intensity put by the boys on the field during all the minutes of the game. From the beginning we set a high pace of play that made it easier for us to score in quick transitions, especially in the first half, which ended with a twelve-point lead on the scoreboard.

After the break, the rivals knew how to take the game to their ground, forcing us to make mistakes. The part was the most even of the crash.

In the last, however, Dénia was able to find solutions and from individual defense and security in the defensive rebound, they managed to grow to endorse the rival a partial of 18-6 that secured a very important victory.
