The Riurau Film Festival says goodbye with the awards ceremony

25 September 2019 - 11: 11

The RIURAU FILM FESTIVAL, postponed by the rains of the previous one, has ended this past weekend, with the last two sessions in Xàbia that nevertheless had a considerable influx of public despite the fact that on Friday the rain made its appearance and filling up on Saturday. Note that this VIII Edition of the RRFF (ninth since it began in Dénia in 2011 with Fes-de-Curt) the number of spectators has grown again, the Xara has been incorporated as a new venue -which completes the circle around Montgó, a regional mountain that dominates everything- and the sessions have been increased from four to six sessions.

The first day of Jávea / Xàbia and penultimate of the festival was inaugurated with the new section "Environment and The Sea", presented by the director of the Xàbia Project, Paco Torner - and developed by the Oceanogràfic Foundation of Valencia -, who illustrated about this project to the audience before showing the short films related to the marine environment ("Posidonia" by Pau Soler and Rafa Martos and "Plastics" by TAPIS Xàbia) and the V-Jing performance "A la Vora" by the filmmaker Marc Pedrós. Upon completion, Torner and Councilor Quico Moragues presented the Foundation's commemorative trophies to all participants, made of ceramics and specially designed for the occasion.

Next, the Fiction section was partially screened, since several short films had to be postponed to the last session on Saturday because of the rain, which did not discourage the public, who took refuge in the Riurau d'Arnauda to listen to some pieces to the musicians

Already on Saturday the last and excellent films of the Fiction section were screened and finally, the short films of the Escola de Cinema de Xàbia, four films made by the students.

In the interim there was the announced tribute to CAY JAYÁN and its owners, the Catalá-Ortuño Family represented by Antonio Catalá and his wife Immaculate Ortuño, with the assistance of the Councilor for Culture and the Festival Director José Ramón Cardona, as well as the President of the Ricolau Cinema Association Anna Perles. This year the RRFF wanted to pay tribute to Xàbia for the 61 years of the work of selection, rigor and love for cinema, which Antonio Catalá has carried out until today, in which he continues to show the latest successes and the best author films in version Original and folded. An audiovisual was projected on the Jayán Cinema.

The Best Fiction Short Film Villa de Xàbia Award was for "Tournées" by Israel Gonzàlez. The winners for the Best Interpreter were aexequo Nuria Herrero and Rosario Pardo for the films "Seatle" by Marta Aledo and "Moscas" by David Moreno respectively; the Best Screenplay was given to the Canadian film "Lay them Straight" by Robert DeLeskie; the Best Photography went to Tomasz Wozniczka and Michal Zuberek for the Polish "The Stop". Finally, the Special Prize of the Festival was for the film "The Widow", American, directed by Noelia María Muiño. The Escola De Cinema Riurau Xàbia Award "Whatsapp and Oxitocina" by Yolanda Medina.

The presentation of the Festival has been carried out this year by the actress Inma Rodríguez, of INMA RDGZ Theater, who has conducted the sessions with her good professional work and her sympathy.
