10 December 2020 - 16: 05

Today the new La Xara school opened its doors for the first time, which is completing the works. Although not to the students, since they will have to wait until after Christmas. They open, on this occasion, to receive a visit from the Minister of Education, Vicent Marzà, who has toured the corridors and classrooms at the hands of the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the mayor of La Xara, Maite Pérez Conejero. A mayor who was very happy to power finally affirm: La Xara has a school again.

And it is that 12 years have passed since the old school building was closed, whose students had to study in a barracks area where they have been seen on occasion with floods that have been solved based on of patches. Now those patches have been finished and from their windows the students have been able to see how the enormous building was raised that they are surely eager to visit.

It is to these students, and to those who have already made the leap to high school, that the mayor wanted to especially thank, for having spent so many years in these conditions and that now they will have their precious reward. On this occasion, in the form of a Christmas gift, since it is expected that the next quarter will be started in the new building.

Among its 9 classrooms, 6 primary and 3 nursery, the school will host 164 boys and girls. The total capacity is 225 students, a figure that Pérez thinks they will cover in a few years once the center is presented to the public.

As for the name, it is still too early to know it. A consensus must be reached, although the mayor has made a firm commitment to maintain it as La Xara College so that students can proudly show where they have been educated.
