Since the creation of the Campus of the Universitat d'Alacant in Dénia, the PSPV-PSOE wants to convert the capital of the Marina Alta in a university city taking as an example the cases of the Alcoi, Gandia or Ontinyent campuses.
It is one of the proposals that are included in its government program 2019 / 2023, a proposal that they consider "justified" because "It is halfway between Valencia and Alicante, it is a privileged place to teach studies related to the sea, tourism or gastronomy. Dénia is a place where innovation, teaching, research and culture can turn us into a city of reference such as Gandía, Alcoi or Ontinyent in which for example the studies of the University of Valencia of physical activities and sports, business administration and management, nursing and teacher in children's education are taught ".
The Socialists recall that the foundations of a University City began during this term with the creation of a University of Alacant headquarters in the city, the start-up of the Gastronomy Center, Gasterra, the progressive implementation of the Degree in Gastronomic Sciences and the completion of studies of the first promotion of the Master in Rice and Mediterranean Cuisine of the University of Alacant.
From the PSPV-PSOE believe that the creation of the Campus will become a basic social and economic agent for job creation, in a laboratory of innovation and creativity, a key operator in the process of transformation of Dénia and Marina Alta and in a place of reference capable of generating actions that, apart from fulfilling a social function, help to obtain the social recognition of excellence for our city.
