The Prime Minister takes stock on the last day of alarm

From this midnight, the entire Spanish territory will return to the New Normality. Gone are 98 days of alarm status. 98 days in which the citizens have been confined and have started a slow exit before the coronavirus pandemic that is still living around the world, but that apparently, and if we are all responsible, we will end it.

Thus, and before the last day of state of alarm, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has appeared, this noon, for the last time, in this period, to take stock of the situation.

Sánchez has highlighted the importance of the state of alarm, his announcement had as "Initial purpose to save lives; life had to be stopped to contain the virus and its spread and thanks to it, we have been able to save thousands of lives."

The President of the Government has thanked all the professionals who have been on the front line for their work and dedication, as well as all the autonomous governments, and all the citizens for complying with the state of alarm and staying at home.

Sánchez has also recalled the more than twenty-eight thousand people who have lost their lives because of COVID-19 and has stated that the Government is working to pay tribute to these victims on July 16.

Now, the government will work to recover the economy, so affected by this pandemic as well as employment.
