The landscape of the Castle changes: a hundred vineyards replace the cut pine trees

13 2018 April - 10: 41

Knowledgeable visitors Dénia Castle that these days they visit him again will realize, as soon as they cross the entrance door, of a remarkable change in his landscape: great part of the pines have disappeared in the zone that occupied the Vila Vella, in the zone oriented to the south, and they have been replaced by a more autochthonous plantation: Muscat grape.

It is about a hundred vineyards coming directly from Poble Nou de Benitatxell that seek to recover the landscape that once inhabited the Castle in the golden age of the export of the raisin in Dénia. The first leaves already sprout in this particular vineyard, whose first bunches may begin to be seen later this summer.

With this change of plantation it will be possible to eliminate one of the great damages that the monument underwent in the last years, with some powerful roots of pine badly damaging the stone in dry and they were seriously threatening the historical walls.

Now, the Castle of Dénia recovers that image of moscatel grape terraces of yesteryear, while also making the philosophy of the Creative City of Gastronomy project grow.
