El Hospital de Dénia It will develop, together with eight other institutions of the European Union that make up a consortium, a set of IT solutions and a training strategy that help fight against computer attacks in the field of health.
This is the “Protego” project, funded by the European Commission, in which the GFI Informatica Corporate Group, the University of Southhampton, the IBM Science and Technology Division of Israel, the Italian San Rafaele Hospital, the University of Alcalá de Henares, the Belgian University of Micro-electronics Centrum, the Catholic of Leuven - also Belgian - and the British Information Catalyst for Enterprise LTD.
Protego is part of the Horizon 2020 Program of the European Union. The aforementioned consortium, of which Marina Salud is a part, must create within three years a package of technological solutions that allow to improve the protection of clinical information that is handled in health organizations and that, on occasion, has been the objective of attacks by international checkers.
The Dénia Hospital and the San Raffaele Hospital will be the testing ground for this set of solutions, so for the Director of Information Technology of Marina Salud, Vicent Moncho, “this is an opportunity that is offered to us to pilot an international program that will help us improve the security of our information systems because in a paperless hospital, the security of clinical information is a strategic objective. ” The Dénia Hospital will also develop a training strategy aimed at professionals, who will subsequently implement the rest of the institutions involved in the project.
The program, endowed with four and a half million euros, is structured in 8 interrelated projects where each organization of the consortium is responsible for the achievement of the products and the associated objectives, where R + D + I is a fundamental part, due to the need to develop new algorithms and infrastructure to provide these new services.
