The Radiological Ring of the Ribera healthcare group integrates the best professionals from the Radiology services of eight group hospitals: the Vinalopó (Elche) and Torrejón university hospitals, the Denia hospital, the Ribera Povisa (Vigo), Ribera Polusa ( Lugo) and Ribera Juan Cardona (Ferrol), Ribera Hospital de Molina (Molina de Segura) and the Ribera Santa Justa hospital (Badajoz).
The objective of this network of radiologists, organized by organ system, is to report on the studies, regardless of where they are physically located or what the patient's referral hospital is. In this way, the patient has his radiological test, evaluated by an expert in her disease. This infrastructure is also open to any hospital or health organization, public or private, that needs this network of super-specialized professionals.
With this organization, reports of the highest quality and precision are provided in any pathology, without delays or waiting lists. The coordinator of this network is the radiologist at the Ribera Povisa hospital, Dr. Gonzalo Tardáguila, and the technical coordinator, Enrique López.
Thanks to the coordination and established protocols, a patient undergoes a diagnostic test in any of the group's hospitals and the image that has to be reported is referred to one of the Ring's super-specialists, for a more accurate and precise analysis. Thus, explains Dr. Tardáguila, "quality reports are made in less time and there are no delays in diagnosis, in addition to avoiding that a patient comes to the consultation and has to be recited another day for not having his diagnosis". “In the team we have, for example, radiologists who are experts in cardiac imaging, who only report heart studies, experts in the abdomen who deal with digestive diseases, and so on in the rest of the areas. This is what is known in the radiological field as an organ-system”, adds the coordinator of the Radiological Ring of the Ribera group.
Enrique López, technical coordinator of the Radiological Ring of Ribera, points out that "by working together several specialists of notable prestige, the exchange of opinions is facilitated in the most complicated cases, which leads us to more reliable diagnoses". In addition, he adds, for specialists it is an added value: "It allows to acquire more experience in less time in their field and a better organization that contributes, in turn, to a better conciliation of family life, in addition to the value that having the possibility of exchanging knowledge with other experts in that anatomical area”.
Dr. Julia Camps, radiological coordinator of the group and corporate head of the Ribera Breast Area, also highlights the speed of reporting, the improvement in inter-centre coordination and the wide range of possibilities that this organization offers when it comes to collecting and analyze more data for multicentre studies. "It is a great step for the Ribera health group and an important advance for the quality of care for our patients", she assured. Along these lines, Dr. Lucía Graña, a radiologist who is also a specialist in Breast, values the super-specialization of her professionals and the online work of the team. "It is important that the radiologist reporting the examinations is a specialist in breast imaging, because it is not the same to see 50 as 1.000 mammograms a month."
