The ONCE Social Group asks to include people with functional diversity in the municipality's employment exchange

Estela Medina Peláez, director of the ONCE area of ​​Alicante, Iván Prieto Álvaro, director of the Benidorm agency, and Sergio Barrera Lloret, vice president of the ONCE Territorial Council in the Valencian Community, have met this week with the mayor of Denia, Vicent Grimalt, and the Councilor for Equality, Inclusive Policies and Housing, Cristina Morera, with whom they have commented different ways of understanding in favor of blind people or with other disabilities.

The ONCE representatives have commented on various issues related to people with disabilities, such as accessibility in public transport and on the streets, highlighting the importance of acoustic traffic lights for blind people and the regulation of the use of scooters and the adaptation of pavement to the needs of people with disabilities.

Accessibility to education and leisure has also been addressed, so that people with disabilities can normally enjoy their attendance at concerts and exhibitions, as well as inclusive education.

In addition, it has dealt with the problems that people with disabilities have to get a job. The ONCE Social Group believes that municipalities play an important role in this area due to their proximity to citizens, so it makes available to all of them the resources of Fundación ONCE and Insert Employment to include in the employment bag of the town hall People with disabilities.

Regarding public employment, the representatives of the ONCE Social Group have made known to the mayor and the councilor of Dénia the importance of promoting responsible public procurement, proving themselves in favor of the Special Employment Centers of social initiative, as is the case of Ilunion , the companies of the ONCE Social Group.

Among other issues, the renovation of the ONCE kiosk park in that town has been discussed with the new model that is more accessible, more ecological and closer to the public.

During this meeting, those responsible for the ONCE have shown the mayor and councilor of Dénia his concern about illegal gambling, which causes a serious problem not only to the Organization, but to the coffers of the State, due to the losses caused to the treasury public and, in some cases, the abuse of persons with disabilities and others at risk of exclusion, who sell illegal lotteries and that threaten the safety of consumers.

The mayor, on the other hand, has offered all his willingness to collaborate and help in every possible way in the realization of the different activities that are carried out in his locality so that the ONCE Social Group is visible.
