The city of Dénia joins this year, for the first time, Circarte, the International Contemporary Circus Festival of the province of Alicante, which celebrates its ninth edition of the 14 to the 29 of September in six municipalities.
For the first time, and thanks to the collaboration of the Salom Sabar Foundation with the organization of the festival, and the support of the Department of Culture, Dénia will host Circarte, a festival that defines the circus as "fusion of arts, cultures and people, where there is no place for human or animal exploitation".
Specifically, Dénia will host three of the activities of the Circarte Festival during the month of September. The first one will be the Circus Gala Circ d'Ací, which will take place on Sunday September 16, to the 19: 00 hours, in the Auditorium of the Social Center of Dénia. It is a show for all audiences and free admission involving ten circus artists from the Valencian Community in a review of the different techniques, from juggling, hand-to-hand acrobatics, the trapeze, wheel cyr, contortion or aerial straps, among other disciplines. Circ d'Ací shows the current landscape of the circus in the Valencian Community and collects the best of the circus tradition fused with the new artistic ingredients of the current circus.
The following Sunday, Day 23, the activity will be concentrated in La Vía street. First, from 17: 00h to 18: 30 hours, the workshop will be offered Introduction to circus techniques taught by the Circolío Association. In this workshop, focused on all ages from 4 years, the bases of juggling (with balls, clubs, diabolo, hoops, Chinese dishes ...), unicycle, acrobatics or balances will be taught. The workshop requires prior registration through the Foundation's website.
The same Sunday, at 19: 00 hours, the show will be offered Flou Papagayo Company Mumusic Circus. A poetic show of great technical and artistic quality that includes, among other disciplines, acrobatics, balances, hair suspension, dance, theater and live music.
