The DBC SUMA 1º Nacional lost to Altea and will play the permanence phase

21 March 2022 - 13: 37

Denia Basketball SUMA Senior Male 1st National could not get the victory last Friday in his trip to Altea (82-64). With a difference of 18 points on the scoreboard and only a week to go before the end of the first phase, they lost the chance to play in the promotion phase to the EBA League.

The team did not start as well as the match required, and the first advantages went to the hosts. The differences were not great, and although it seemed that we could catch up, we arrived at the break ten points below.

Barely three minutes after the restart, Bernardo Sanz's men turned the result around, putting themselves a point ahead on the scoreboard. It would, however, be the turning point of the meeting.

Altea knew the importance of the result to finish securing their classification for the promotion phase, and their reaction was relentless, endorsing us with a 20-0 run that decided the result when there was still a quarter to play.

Although the team tried until the end, the home team did not give them a chance to come back and took a valuable victory that gave them third place in the group. Highlight the debut in the category of Manu González, preferred senior player, who had an outstanding performance.

Against Ontinyent

On Sunday the DBC SUMA Senior Men's 1st National team received Ontinyent in Joan Fuster, the co-leader of the classification against whom they could not get a new victory (51-77).

The objective of Bernardo Sanz's team was to achieve a victory that would bring them closer to fifth place in the final classification, a position that grants three points with which to start the permanence phase.

The visitors were far superior at the start of the game, adding to their success and physical superiority our low offensive percentages and lack of concentration in defense, which did nothing but reduce our confidence.

That made things even more difficult against such a solid rival, who at the end of the first period had to be lifted fifteen points ahead.

The reaction came in the second period. The rotation of players on court ordered by Bernardo Sanz gave another air to the team, which was six points behind its rival in a few minutes.

But Ontinyent knew how to organize himself again and punished us from the perimeter and on the rebound, recovering ground again when he reached the break, which he reached with an advantage of fourteen points.

Our guys kept trying throughout the second half but they couldn't find continuity on a bad offensive day.

Accelerated many times in excess, we generated an imbalance in the rebound and the defensive balance that did not benefit us. The loss of patience with the arbitration ended up making it easier for our rivals to consolidate their advantage, and even increase it until the end of the match.

The team will close this week its participation in the first phase of the league with a double confrontation. On Friday he will receive ADESAVI in Joan Fuster in a match that was postponed on the day, and on Saturday he will travel to the Enguera pavilion on the last day. A win would guarantee fifth place in the group, which is now the goal our young players are pursuing.

Senior Male Preferred

The Preferred Senior Male broke a five-match losing streak against Alberic by achieving an important victory (65-58), which encourages us and recharges our batteries to face the final stretch of the competition.

The storming start of the first quarter, which we finished seventeen points up, gave us, in addition to great confidence, a sufficient advantage to be able to manage during the rest of the game.

Alberic entered the match in the second and third periods, making it clear that they were not going to give up easily, knowing the importance of the match in the face of permanence.

In the last period we knew how to contain their constant approaches, facilitated, in part, by our turnovers. However, the team drew on experience and knew how to compete perfectly, being very solid in the last minutes to achieve a long-suffering victory that puts us squarely in the fight for permanence in the category.

Junior Female Preferred

The Preferred Junior Women's team went to the UBF Torrent field last Monday, March 14 with only seven players due to numerous injuries, to play a very tough match against a rival who defended very strongly from minute one, against the one that was sold despite everything very expensive defeat (65-53).

His powerful start to the match completely surpassed us, reaching the Juan Luis Pérez and Soufyane Sadoki the temptation to give up and give up early.

But we were patient and after containing them in the second quarter, we knew how to wait for our moment that would come after the break.

We started the second part without nerves and that's when you could really see the game. We matched the intensity of our rivals and managed to beat them in the third period quarter by a point, which made us go up for the rest of the match, which was magnificent.

Defending hard, dominating the rebounds and rushing fast breaks, we let our rivals know that they were not going to take an easy victory, winning the last period by ten points. Cadet player Manal Douah made her debut with the team with a remarkable performance.

Female cadet

The girls of the DBC 06 Women's Cadet team carried out their uncomfortable commitment in Alicante, where they defeated Montemar San Blas playing a good match (40-56), reinforced by four children's players.

The match was marked by the inopportune date set for its dispute, being the only team in the entire School that was forced to play in the middle of Fallas week.

With absences and little training in the last ten days, we started the game a little insecure in defense and with a lack of fluidity in attack.

However, we got into dynamics and managed to distance ourselves from our rivals, opening a fifteen-point margin at the break, which we were then able to defend in a very tight second half, which had many interruptions.

Thank the effort made by all the families to be present at this meeting from which we came out stronger in first place in the group, and with our sights set on the eliminatory rounds for the title of the 1st Zonal category.
