Next Monday, April 23, on the occasion of the Book Day, the first floor of the Social Center of Denia will open a new reading space created by the Department of the Mayor for users of the facilities.
The reading space of the Social Center has been nurtured with funds provided by the Dénia Retirement Home, private citizens, the Municipal Public Library, the Valencian Generalitat and the Rotary Club of Dénia, which has provided the furniture. The reading space for the elderly began its journey in the Sertorio Neighborhood Center and now moves to the first floor of the Social Center.
For a few months, a group of seven volunteers have worked in the restructuring, organization and attention of this new reading space. The members of the volunteer team are Fernando Jordá, Mariam Espasa, Mª Teresa Hernández, Marilena Galindo, Massimina Candeloro, Marily Rodriguez and Pedro Reig. To develop their work have the advice and support of the team of the Department and Classrooms of the Third Age.
At the moment, this new reading space will open for book lending on Mondays and Wednesday afternoons, from 17.30 to 19.30 hours, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning, from 10 to 12 hours. All these days, except on Monday afternoon that only the loan service will be carried out, the room can be used as a reading space and guidance will be offered to those who require it. This schedule is subject to changes to adapt to the needs of users.
