The Dénia Addiction Treatment Support Center, which has been managed by the AEPA Foundation since 2004 through an agreement signed with the City Council of Dénia, has incorporated this year a new intervention program in pathological gambling, called "Your life is not a game".
Through this resource, people who have an addiction to gambling (slots, sports bets, lotteries, poker, roulette, casinos ...) are served in a more intense and specialized way. Counseling will also be offered to families who are affected by this problem and need guidance.
The ultimate goal of the program is to achieve abstinence in gamblers and help them regain the life that pathological gambling takes from them, since this addiction interferes with various areas of the person's life (family, economic, health, social, etc. .).
"Your life is not a game" is a program is free for users and is aimed at people of legal age. The only requirement to access the program is to request help at the Dénia AEPA Dénia Center by calling the numbers 620 28 26 42 or 965 78 09 76, contacting the indicated mobile phone by WhatsApp or sending an email to the address deniacd @ fundacion-aepa .org.
The program is developed thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies included in the call for aid aimed at carrying out programs of general interest to serve social purposes under the regional section of the tax allocation of 0,7, XNUMX% of the Personal Income Tax. This help allows the AEPA Foundation to continue with the therapeutic work in the field of addictions that the entity has carried out since its constitution, to which the Denia Town Hall also contributes, which year after year shows its support and commitment to the resource.
The program will consist of individualized attention, which will begin with an interview with the person, their problem with gambling will be analyzed and an individualized intervention will be designed according to their needs. There will also be a therapy group where various issues related to gambling, relapse prevention and lifestyle change will be addressed in a group.
It should be noted that all these interventions will comply with current regulations and group meetings will only be held in person when the authorities recommend it. To solve the problems derived from the pandemic, the center has security protocols and a set of tools to carry out telematic attention whenever it is needed, so as not to interrupt treatment.
The Addiction Treatment Support Day Center (c/ Amparo Merle, nº 8, bajo, Dénia) has a total of 30 places arranged with the Ministry of Universal Health and Public Health for treatment support programs and psychosocial supervision of patients with addiction problems. The coverage of the center, located in Dénia, covers the entire area of the Marina Alta of the Department of Health nº 13. The patients are referred by the Unit of Addictive Behaviors (UCA Dénia) of the Department of Health.
