CD Marina El Portet wins victory in a regatta that commemorates traditional tuna fishing

20 October 2020 - 11: 27

The members of the Club Deportivo Marina el Portet de Dénia have participated this past weekend in the L'Almadrava regatta, which began on Saturday at 11.30 am towards Moraira, and then returned to the island of Benidorm and after 40 miles finish in the bay of Altea again. In the full crew category, the first place went to the boat Kim from CD Marina Portet and the owner Yann Lythgoe. In the A2 category, the trophy has gone to Dénia also with Dominique Luna Tudela's Django boat.

Second place in both categories went to CN Altea, with Thierry Lallemand's Guaguanco II in A2 and Ricardo Imaz Ibarreta's Limitless Marine Design in Complete Crew.

As they have recalled from the host club, the Náutico de Altea, the route that the twenty sailboats made on Saturday passed through the historical scenes of the Almadraba fishing, thus recalling the maneuvers that the boats made to be able to surround them the schools of tuna that were making their way back to the Atlantic. In 1956, fishing was stopped in the Marina using this traditional art, which generations of expert almadraberos of the region have practiced throughout the Mediterranean, and now this regatta wants to honor the history of these fishermen.

5 Clubs Trophy

On the other hand, on Sunday, with a variable south wind between 6 and 9 knots, the fifth test of the 5 Clubs Trophy was held at the Altea Nautical Club. In this fourth test of the trophy, the Kim boat was second in its category A.

On December 13, the Real Club Náutico de Calpe will organize the sixth and last race of the season.
