Walker who travels the world to save the planet stops in Dénia

November 02 from 2016 - 09: 09

During the bridge of All Saints Dénia has received endless visitors and tourists who have chosen our city to spend a few days of rest and disconnection. But we have also received a visit that is out of this "normal" and that aims to raise awareness about the need to care for the planet.

Martin Hutchinson is a retired English firefighter who began walking the world in 2009 to raise awareness about ecology. After 34.000 kilometers on foot through Latin American countries, his trip has reached Europe to convey his green message to citizens, but this time from a bicycle. Martin left England and has visited France, Italy and Portugal, and these days he is touring Spain. Last Monday his bicycle ended up in Dénia, where he arrived in order to see the state of the beaches and talk with citizens and visitors about the importance of caring for the environment.

It states that the worst enemy of our beaches is plastic, a real danger to fish and marine flora. Walker notes that in countries like India are re-using plastic to make roads, giving a utility to waste more than 5.000 kilometers of asphalt roads with plastic.

The work of Martin Hutchinson is complemented with the help of the internet. Through his Youtube channel he explains the ecological disasters that haunt us, and his message has also reached schools and universities, where he has given environmental talks.

Martin's journey continues now to the south, and hope you ahead nine years of tour of the rest of Europe, India, some Arab countries, Australia and New Zealand, where he hopes to finish this adventure
