The government team has presented this morning the "study plan for this new 2021-2022 academic year." They are "the objectives that we have to meet and with good marks, the one that the citizens of Dénia have to give us", explained the Mayor, Vicent Grimalt. An exercise of “accountability and transparency” that happens, firstly, “by committing ourselves, with courage and political responsibility, to carry out, and in a defined period of time between September 2021 and August 2022, a series of concrete projects already included, broadly speaking, in our government program ”.
In this temporary period, the municipal government plans to develop 80 actions that are grouped into three large blocks: social and economic policies, reinforced by the context of the pandemic and the resulting crisis; projects for the improvement, modernization and transformation of urban space; and actions to define a sustainable and intelligent future model.
Of the first large block, the mayor has highlighted the occupation plans: those currently in force have employed 30 people and Grimalt has advanced that the city council has received two new subsidies from Labora, a total of € 300.000, for the hiring of people in unemployed and under 30 years of age for one year.
Another “injection into the local economy to help small companies and the self-employed to overcome the crisis” are the Paréntesis aids, already distributed, and the new subsidies from the Provincial Council for economic activity in general and the tourism sector: about 3 million euros. euros.
In social matters, two initiatives to directly support families and work-life balance are being expanded: aid for schooling for boys and girls from 0 to 3 years of age (with an item this year of € 70.000) and the "Holidays for all and all ”, which will also increase in the number of places.
And among the new projects, the "Open Coles" program will be launched shortly, which aims to provide new play spaces for children and young people on weekends: school yards.
The transformation of the city continues
The urban and public works chapter, the Councilor for Territory, M. Josep Ripoll, has indicated that the 33 projects included in this block will consolidate "the greatest transformation of the democratic period that Dénia has experienced." And the two actions that top the list, the redevelopment of Glorieta and surrounding streets (including Cop) and the improvement of the floor and lighting of Calle del Marqués de Campo, "will consolidate the pedestrianization and the definitive recovery of that pedestrian space."
"The first, with a budget close to one million euros, and the second, with a budget of € 330.000, already have funding committed by the Provincial Council, within Plan Plan, and will be executed during 2022".
The new landscaped park on the site of the old ambulatory (the winning project of the ideas competition is about to be made public) will finish rounding out "the new area won for people."
In this block, the rehabilitation works of the Torrecremada house also stand out, the start of which is scheduled for early 2022; the redevelopment of the Plaza de Valgamedios, to turn it into a single platform, to be completed after Fallas; the renovation of the pavement of the Paseo de la Marineta Cassiana and the Madrigueres sports courts; and “smaller actions, but which represent a big change and more comfort for the neighborhood” are the street paving plans: the 2021 Asphalting Plan (which will be put out to tender before the end of the year), the Asphalting Plan of the It montgó (included in the Plan + CERCA de Diputación) and the asphalting of the industrial park area (with a grant from IVACE).
Outlook for the future
The list of 80 projects for the financial year 2021-2022 completes the package of projects that are committed “decidedly to improve the quality of life of the deniers and denieres and also of the people who visit us, transforming the city model into a more sustainable and intelligent one. A process parallel to the objectives of sustainable development, to guarantee a viable future for Dénia socially, economically, touristically and environmentally ”, recalled the mayor.
Among the most immediate and important, the award and entry into operation of the new contract for garbage collection and cleaning of the city, which will be awarded in 2021 and "we estimate that by Easter the changes and improvements will be very evident." A contract of 68 million euros that will renew and increase containers, will introduce intelligent systems for waste management and adaptations of seasonal services according to the size of the population, among other improvements.
Also before the end of the year, the management of energy consumption at municipal facilities will be put out to tender to an Energy Services Company, "which will help us save and move towards sustainability in this regard."
And among other projects in this block, the launch of the Office of City Strategies, in calle del Pintor Llorens, will accelerate the implementation of the actions of the Dénia Smart City project and the Commerce Plan, "two fundamental axes of the future from the city".
