The City Council installs a counter of victims of sexist violence so that they are not forgotten

November 25 from 2019 - 13: 22

This noon took place, in front of the session, the act for the Day against Gender Violence in which the victims counters installed in the Plaza de la Constitución have been presented.

With the slogan Victims of gender violence count, the City Council has presented this initiative to repulse macho violence, with two large banners constantly updated where the numbers of victims of this scourge are recorded. In one of them, in which the figure appears today 51, where the victim count is maintained during the 2019; in the second, with an alarming 1.027, the count from 2003. Unbearable numbers that, for greater misfortune, are already outdated after a new macho murder carried out this morning in Tenerife.

The act also read the names of the victims, the institutional manifesto of rejection and, in addition, all those present participated in the minute of silence in their memory.

"Victims of gender violence count. Each one counts. Each of the women killed, abused, assaulted, raped and threatened, any kind of gender violence counts", has declared Javier Scotto, Councilor for Equality, underlining that the objective of the campaign is not to forget or that society becomes immune to this daily violence. "Dropper, this problem is diffuse. That is why these accountants reflect the social scourge we face.".
