The Dénia City Council allocates 106.000 euros to aid for the self-employed and SMEs

The Dénia City Council Governing Board has approved the final grant of 106.017,04 euros in aid for the self-employed to a total of 97 applicants. The grants awarded are co-financed by the Alicante Provincial Council and the Dénia City Council.

It must be remembered that the purpose of these aids is the promotion of economic activity in Dénia in the face of the serious damages caused by the suspension of activities that was accompanied by the declaration of the state of alarm by COVID-19. It is expected to provide liquidity to the self-employed, other groups subject to mutuals, SMEs and micro-enterprises of the municipality to help facilitate the fulfillment of their business obligations and the maintenance of the activity.

The aid was intended to subsidize expenses such as the monthly rent of the business premises, consulting and advisory expenses incurred as a result of the state of alarm, the expenses of contracts for the supply of energy, water, telephone or internet and others refer to business activity directly affected by the health crisis.

Social Services Expenses

Likewise, the board has approved this week an expense of 28.646 euros to pay all the requests for social emergency aid submitted during the month of December.

As explained by the Councilor for Inclusive Policies, Cristina * Morera, from April to December of this year more than 1.900 requests for social emergency aid have been received and a total of 623.948,01 euros have been allocated, an amount that considerably exceeds 230.000 euros initially budgeted in the 2020 accounts for this item.

Morera has highlighted that spending on social welfare to face the social emergency situation caused by the pandemic is about 900.000 euros (623.948,01 euros for social emergency aid, around 9.000 euros in fixed cash expenses, about 60.000 euros in supermarket vouchers that are given for the purchase of basic necessities in supermarkets, the hiring of more staff to Social Services to meet the demand, with a budget of 62.690 euros, and around 150.000 euros in aid from September to December, complementary to those of the Consellería, Covid rental aid for people of extreme vulnerability and energy supply; aid for schooling from 0 to 3 years and aid for the cost of the habitual residence for low-income families .

EMPUJU program

On the other hand, next Monday the four unemployed people under the age of 30 hired through the EMPUJU program that subsidizes the Labora will begin to work in different departments of the Dénia City Council. These are four full-time employment contracts for a period of 12 months.

The four people hired will provide service, based on their qualification and training, at the Market office, the Home Help Service, the Santa Llúcia residence and Creama.

The occupation policies and the management of subsidies of the Labora have led to the Dénia City Council hiring 2020 people during 58 and has allocated more than 800.000 euros, between subsidies and municipal contributions, to the hiring of personnel.
