08 July 2021 - 11: 21

The Dénia City Council joins the avalanche of voices that in recent weeks have asked the Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies to pay the APROSDECO entity the amount it owes for the management of the Occupational Center and Day Center "La Xara "for people with intellectual functional diversity; a debt that, according to the motion to be approved by all groups of the municipal Corporation in the next plenary session, exceeds € 650.000 and compromises the continuity of the association's activity.

The Dianense consistory, affirms the motion, "corroborates that the prolongation in time of the situation of non-payment of the debt that the Ministry has with APROSDECO implies that the workers of the entity stop receiving the salary that corresponds to them and endangers the continuity of a basic service for especially vulnerable people and their families ".

The motion, which will be voted on in an extraordinary plenary session scheduled for next week, also highlights the work that APROSDECO has developed over almost half a century, "not only in the care of people with intellectual functional diversity, offering resources to improve the quality of life and social and labor integration, but also to support families, so in need of effective and daily support in the task of caring for vulnerable people ".

Likewise, the values that govern the activity of the entity are indicated: "the ethical commitment to the task that it develops and the people it assists; the dignity and normalization to society of people with intellectual functional diversity; the work for the improvement of their quality of life; the positive attitude towards the disability and the decisive and encouraging support for the families; and the absolute transparency in the management "

For all this, the Dénia City Council will request the Ministry to immediately settle the outstanding debt with the association, "a reference to the Marina Alta in its field of action and essential for our region, which does not have any other resource with similar characteristics".
