Rock art comes to summer courses at UNED

La Cova del Comte de Pedreguer and the rock art in the region are being studied in the course organized by the UNED that during three days will delve into the prehistoric artistic manifestations in the Marina Alta.

This new course began on Wednesday, directed by Martí Mas (professor of Prehistory at UNED) and coordinated by Maria Assumpció Sentí, technician of the Archeology Service of the City Council of Dénia.

The director spoke in his inaugural speech of some important findings localized in recent decades and commenting on other research projects is developing. Mas Martí spoke of the importance of new technologies, despite the controversy between some technicians; and he made a show of graphic documentation of rock art from a historiographical perspective.

The first day ended with a presentation by Maria Assumpció Sentí, which focused its intervention on rock art found in the region with the aim of offering attendees a cultural frame of reference to facilitate understanding of the course.

Sentí made special emphasis on the looting suffered by the deposits in the region and the need to "Know and respect all the heritage to bequeathed in the best conditions to future generations".

The summer course The rock art in the Navy. The Cova del Comte continue on Thursday and Friday morning with presentations and lectures of archaeologists and experts in rock art.
