The settlement of the municipal budget of the City Council of Dénia for 2020 results in a surplus of 7.651.000 euros, as announced today by the Councilor for Economic Services, Paco Roselló. The remainder of the Treasury for general expenses stands at 18.438.000 euros and the outstanding debt as of December 31, 2020 was 22,4 million euros.

The budgetary result for fiscal year 2020 is the result of the situation caused by the pandemic, which translates into a significant drop in the initial expenses foreseen in the budget. For example, in Chapter II of current expenses and services, 23% less has been spent than planned and in Investments, 5,8 million euros of the 11 million initially contemplated have been executed because many of the planned works they have not been carried out. Roselló has given the example of the Edificant Plan, which had planned to allocate a total of 6,1 million euros in educational infrastructure works and, finally, has executed 2,4 million euros.

Regarding the destination of the 7,6 million euros of surplus for 2020, the Councilor for Economic Services has explained that 2,5 million euros have already been allocated to the payment of invoices from the previous year.

In addition, the plenary session of this month of April will approve a credit modification for the amount of 3 million euros, in charge of this positive balance, to be allocated to different items. Roselló stressed that 400.000 euros will be used to reinforce the initial budget for emergency financial aid (PEIS), bringing the item to 700.000 euros. 481.571 euros will also be allocated to aid to companies for the payment of the garbage tax and 332.408 euros to aid for the payment of the public road occupancy tax. 100.000 euros are also contemplated to fix the floor of the covered pavilion and another 60.000 for the adaptation of the Madrigueres tracks.

With the credit modification in charge of the surplus, about 45.000 euros will also be allocated to the adaptation and improvement of the facilities of the Santa Llúcia residence (bathrooms on the first floor, changing rooms and showers, creation of an infirmary and toilets on the second floor ), 42.722 euros to improve the streets of the industrial estate and 140.000 euros for the drafting of the project for the new sports hall.

Likewise, credit will be made available for new items such as the lighting of the Diego Mena football field (€ 28.000), the conditioning of the public car parks of Les Rotes and others (200.000 euros) and the hiring of 14 unemployed people through the II Municipal Employment Plan (210.887 €).

Regarding the 2 million that will still remain from the surplus, the councilor has indicated that "we will have to be aware of the evolution of expenses and income to see how we use them."

Paco Roselló concluded his speech by underlining that "we continue to bet on our policy of support for families and businesses in the city" and recalled that in 2021 3,3 million euros will be allocated to aid to companies -813.000 euros from the surplus for aid in the payment of fees, 2,2 million euros in Parenthesis aid and 300.000 euros from aid from the Diputación de Alicante- and one million euros for aid to the families of the municipality, shelled at 700.000 euros in PEIS, 210.000 euros from the Municipal Employment Plan and 90.000 euros that are allocated in the budget for aid for the payment of the IBI and the garbage tax.
