Commitment Dénia celebrates this October 9 their traditional political event in Jaume I Square in Dénia at 12:30h, an event that will include speeches by the local secretary, Safir Malonda, and of the deputy in the Valencian Parliament, Gerard FullanaThus reviving the celebration after its cancellation last year due to rain.
History and tradition of the Valencianist act
After last year's event had to be cancelled due to rain, Compromís hopes to hold this year's simple yet deeply rooted celebration, which is very much in keeping with the group's history and traditions. In fact, the main 9th of October event has been held in Plaça Jaume I since 2010, regardless of whether Compromís has been in government or in opposition.
In this context, Safir Malonda has stated that "this is a date that is part of the history of our group, and we maintain it because it doesn't depend on where we are institutionally, but on who we are and what we represent politically."
Political demands and institutional coexistence
The local secretary points out that this local celebration coexists with the institutional events of October 9th.
Malonda states that "The City Council is working to make it a festival for everyone, open, cultural, and participatory; but as a party, we maintain this event as a space for asserting Valencian political identity." This year, the municipal program includes a wide range of activities for all audiences, and the group also wants to encourage everyone to attend and enjoy this cultural offering.
Traditional closing with offering and Muixeranga
The Compromís event will conclude, as is tradition, with the floral offering at the monument to Jaume I and the muixerangaThe group invites activists, supporters, and the general public to reunite at the 12:30h in Jaume I square to celebrate October 9th.
