The 6º Congress of Studies on the Marina Alta will present fifty new Regional Studies

The richness of the history of the Marina Alta will be embodied in the 6º Congress of Studies on the High Marina that the IECMA (Institut d'Estudis Comarcal de la Marina Alta) has scheduled for next March of 2017.

The days 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 of March, traveling and based in different municipalities of the region, will present fifty new studies on the Marina Alta in twelve thematic areas: archeology, geography, history and sources documentaries, ecology and the environment, architecture and urbanism, plastic arts, music, economy and tourism, medicine and health, education, language and literature and ethnography and popular culture.

IECMA

In the absence of knowing the details of the programming, from the IECMA they have advanced that there will be prestigious speakers and a program of parallel cultural activities during the two weekends that the congress lasts.

The congresses of studies on the Marina Alta began to be held at 1982 in Dénia, with the participation of fifty people. The second edition was held two years later in Pego, Benissa and Dénia and in 1990 the third edition also took place in a decentralized manner, in the municipalities of Dénia, Xàbia, Benissa and Pedreguer. This format was maintained in the fourth edition, in 2003, held in Dénia, Els Poblets, Teulada and Benissa and was lost in 2009, in the fifth edition, which was held in Dénia to commemorate the 400 years of the expulsion of the Moriscos.

During these 35 years of history and five congresses, 250 studies have been presented about the Marina Alta that have contributed new knowledge about the historical, patrimonial and landscape richness of our region.
