Two young men are rescued by the Red Cross after being dragged by a wave in Cova Tallà

August 22 from 2019 - 12: 23

During the afternoon of yesterday, about 15: 30, the poor state of the sea gave a scare to a group of young 5 who were visiting the Cova Tallà. While they were on the outside of the cave, a wave surprised them, pulling 2 from them to the ungovernable sea, whose current and waves dragged them inwards. The two hikers who fell clung tightly to a rock to keep the water from taking them, while the rest of the group called the 112.

The emergency center quickly mobilized the Dénia Red Cross and the rescue helicopter. Despite the poor state of the water, with Les Rotes Waving the red flag, the beach boat with two lifeguards on board was the first to arrive, while, almost simultaneously, a third lifeguard by land did the same, running along the access path.

The two crew members of the Red Cross boat did not hesitate to jump into the water, leaving only the skipper in the boat, to form a human chain and thus take the victims to the cave. In it was the third lifeguard who came on foot to extract them to a safe area.

One of the victims was transferred to the health center by a cut, although the wounds were mostly superficial thanks to the rapid action of the lifeguards.
