Documentaries and monographs cover the programming of the project on historical memory of Dénia

The project of cultural activities Fem memòria. Dénia, war and repressió that the Ajuntament de Dénia, through the Arxiu Històric Municipal, launched last year, coinciding with the 80 anniversary of the Civil War, continues with its programming during this 2019.

The next Winners will be announced in March the documentary will be screened at the Social Center Belgian moms, by Sven Tuytens, at 20 hours. For its theme, the activity is part of the events organized to mark International Women's Day and also in this project of Fem memory, since it addresses international solidarity through the collaboration of a group of women nurses in the Ontinyent International Military Hospital during the Spanish Civil War. Admission is free.

El Winners will be announced in March, in the auditorium of the Dénia Public Library, at 20 hours, the monographic will be presented War and postwar repression of the Marina Alta II, the second volume of the magazine Aguaits of the Institut d'Estudis Comarcals (IECMA), in which the Arxiu Històric Municipal de Dénia has collaborated.

In this issue of Aguaits appear various articles related to Dénia, such as the repression exercised against the Vallalta doctor or those dedicated to exile in France and the hardships of Dianenses Agustín Poveda and Bautista Guinnot, as well as the list of persons declared as "disaffected" to the Franco regime based on the reports of the Dénia Archive.

Continuing with the activities, the Winners will be announced in March the screening of the documentary is planned The concentration camp of Portaceli (1939-1942), directed by Rafa Arnal and Joan Barres. It will be at 20 hours, in the Social Center. Portaceli was one of the places where many people accused of being republicans fulfilled the sentences imposed by the Franco regime. Among them were prisoners from Dénia and other towns in the Marina Alta.

As announced in the presentation of the "Fem memoria" program in September last year, two research papers on the Civil War in Dénia and neighboring towns of the region edited by the city council are planned.

The next April 11 will be presented at the Municipal Public Library Història i memòria. The Civil War in Dénia, a work coordinated by the municipal archivist Rosa Seser. The work contains, in a first part, new studies on the civil war in Dénia. The second part provides the data of the testimonies of the war, newspapers and memoirs, as well as the list of dianenses who went to war and the dead and disappeared.

The second book, still pending the date of presentation, is a work by Robert Llopis Sendra about the International Brigades and their health service in Benissa and Dénia. It is a work co-published by the Ajuntament de Dénia and Publicacions Universitat de València.

Also, from mid-April you can access new content on the Youtube channel of the Municipal Arxiu: more interviews with testimonies of people who lived through the war in Dénia and an audiovisual about the exhibition "Dénia, temps de guerra i repressió, 1936 -1939 "with comments from Rosa Seser, curator of the show.
