D * na Restaurant: history and participants of the Dénia event

The D * na Restaurant is the new format of the Dénia gastronomic festival with which the organization has wanted to adapt to the health measures of COVID-19. This was celebrated during the bridge of December 2021 as something exceptional, initially. However, it is unknown if it will be a one-time edition or will be repeated if the situation requires it.

What is it?

The Restaurant is the format in which the D * na Festival during the year 2021 due to the coronavirus crisis. In this way, the gastronomic event that since 2017 has filled Dénia with lovers of good food had a very different proposal from the previous ones.

While in its original version, it was committed to the producers, chefs and catering establishments meeting in the Marineta Cassiana With people, D * na Restaurant wanted people to approach the restaurants, and not the other way around. This prevented large crowds and helped businesses that had been among the most affected by the economic crisis resulting from the pandemic.

For the occasion, each of the participants presented various special proposals, menus in the case of restaurants and tapas in the case of bars. The success was such that, once the event was over and taking advantage of the fact that it was held during the first half of the long weekend in early December, it was decided to keep the D * na menu for the rest of the week.

On the other hand, during the development two stages were installed in the center of Dénia. Throughout the days, numerous chefs passed through to carry out different showcookings, workshops and round tables, as well as producers and representatives of different foreign cities with great gastronomic relevance.

Where is it celebrated?

The location of the D * na Restaurant was not the Marineta Cassiana, as the festival is used to. On this occasion it took place in the center of Dénia, with a main stage in the Plaza del Consell and a secondary one in the Marqués de Campo site. In addition, the participating restaurants were distributed throughout Dénia, so there was no location for the event as such.

When does it develop?

Initially, the Restaurant version is an exceptional format due to the coronavirus pandemic, held only in 2021, between December 4 and 6. When normality returns, the idea is to continue with the D * na Festival and D * na Forum. However, the organization has not ruled out repeating next year if sanitary restrictions persist.

The D * na Restaurant, as usual in the festival, featured a large number of famous faces from the world of gastronomy. They took to the different stages to bring their recipes to the public and give advice for their preparation.

    Hundreds of people came to the facilities of the D * na Restaurant to enjoy the extensive programming. In addition, certain showcookings witnessed a full capacity crowd. However, the intentional separation between the different scenarios caused that there was no agglomeration of people experienced in other editions, being a format that, in a certain way, went more unnoticed.

    It is unknown how it worked in the collaborating premises, if there was a lot of demand for the proposals presented in the form of D * na menus, although the truth is that during the days of the celebration finding a free table in Dénia to eat was almost impossible.
