The court number 3 of Dénia has decreed the entry into prison without bail of two men of 22 and 23 years and Albanian nationality, as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health and another crime of defrauding electric power.
In an operation carried out by agents of the Civil Guard of El Verger have seized, in the town of Pedreguer, more than 800 marijuana plants in the last phase of growth, 118 lighting equipment, filters and ventilation equipment, and several surveillance cameras.
The investigation began in mid-January at the La Sella Urbanization in the town of Pedreguer. Strong smells of marijuana and a high consumption of electricity indicated that, in an area where there were about ten homes, marijuana could be growing.
After several days of surveillance of the area, the focus is on one of the houses that, according to the experience of the agents, could be hosting an indoor plantation. Although the orography of the area and the security measures that the tenants had taken made it impossible to observe from the outside, any indication of the existence of the plantation, agents continued with the surveillance, until they managed to collect evidence that supported the request for a court order of registration.
When they searched, they found four rooms inside the house that had been prepared for the cultivation of marijuana plants, which were already in the last phase of growth. The plantation had more than 800 plants, and everything necessary to carry out the crop: lighting lamps, fans, extractors, carbon filters to hide the smell, air conditioners, and other utensils.
In addition, the two tenants had illegally connected to the electricity grid, from where they obtained the necessary energy to maintain their crop. The technicians of the electric company estimate that, only in this house, a consumption equivalent to that of 60 single-family houses of similar dimensions was being made.
