El Real Club Nautico Denia, together with the French Spanish Windsurf Club of Valencia (CWHFV), organized, this weekend, one of the most numerous and important events within the annual calendar of the Valencian Light sailing. Little wind and a successful number of participants was the result of a few days shared by the sport of the sea.
The test gathered 150 athletes divided between the Optimist B and Windsurf classes. Two courses of regattas in the sea and a numerous support team were the land views of the regional 1 level test in a fleet and scoring format for the regional ranking.
The forecast of the weather during the weekend was not entirely favorable for the boats but gave some truces to celebrate several of the planned tests.
Cancellation of Optimist outputs
Saturday woke up with an unexpected sun that gave hope to the day but the wind, protagonist of this sport, did not manage to stabilize. In the case of the windsurf boards, with a wind of 3 and 4 knots, and with the possibility of "rowing" with their own sail, they managed to perform two tests without incidents during the morning.
The Optimist, on the other hand, did not achieve the stable and desired wind to begin the tests, although the insistence of the committee gave three exits that finally had to be annulled by the high gusts of wind.
Day of wind and rain
On Sunday, it was cloudy, with rains and few winds, the fleet decided to go out to sea to celebrate the competition, at the end of the morning when a wind intensity of 5 / 6 knots seemed constant, the race committee managed to get the boats complete a return to the course, proof that finally gave the names of the winners of the weekend. The windsurf boards, on Sunday, could make two more sleeves and complete a successful weekend.
The delivery of trophies was held at the end of all the tests on Sunday at the Tent of the Dianense club. There he attended the Vice Mayor of the City of Dénia, Rafa Carrió, accompanied by Jaime Portolés, president of the Real Club Náutico Dénia and his board of directors, Juan Riera, and Marta Bohorques, President of the CWHFV and his teammates, Octavio Ramón and Moran Beley.
