Joan Chabàs Martí, poet, writer and literary critic, is an essential part of the history and culture of Dénia, where he was born in the year 1900. But his history and his life are intimately linked to the Cuban city of Havana, where the 1954 died and where his mortal remains rest.
A year in November 2015, a Cuban delegation comprising Deputy Minister of Cuban Culture Abel Acosta and composer and pianist José María Vitier, visited Denia to meet in person the city that gave birth to chabas, and at that time invited ago formally dianenses representatives to Havana.
