Dénia also has its «Champions» of Adapted Sports

The students of the Raquel Payá School and the municipal sport school of adapted sport of the City Council of Dénia that manages the Association Condemned to Curb, participated in the Provincial Championship of adapted sport that was held in the facilities of the Palau d'Esports Illa de Benidorm the last day 23 of January.

A total of 35 athletes participated in the sport modalities of Basketball, Boccia (in their categories BC1, BC2 and BC3), bowling and swimming (25- 50ml), all of them mixed with the exception of swimming in which there are male and female categories . This year a Valencian ball exhibition was also held.

Result

4 gold medals:

  • Jorge Femenia in Boccia bc1.
  • Nordine Gahibat, in Boccia bc3.
  • Aroa Payá in 25 meters swimming.
  • Andrei Napalkop in 25 meters swimming.

3 silver medals:

  • Basketball team.
  • Dario Vicens in Boccia Bc1.
  • Victor Franchini in Boccia bc3.

1 bronze medal:

  • Pablo Contri in 25 meters swimming.

The level of motivation and delivery has been formidable on the part of all the participants and the generosity and attention of the monitors and teachers of the School has been extraordinary.

It is important to highlight two athletes: on the one hand, Jorge Femenía Gamero, who with these championships gets her seventh consecutive medal in Boccia Oro 2013, Bronze 2014, Silver 2015, Silver 2016, Gold 2017, Silver 2018 and gold this year 2019. And on the other hand, Aroa Paya, who from the 2014 to the 2019 has obtained six golds and one silver, in swimming.

We are able

The project "We are Capable" (Municipal School of Adapted Sports), Condenaados al Bordillo coordinates with the Raquel Paya School, is subsidized and supported at all times by the Department of Sports of the City of Dénia, the Ministry of Education, Research, Culture and Sports, and several individuals. Currently, more than 70 people with different types of abilities, ages and sex participate.

This project facilitates access to sports practice for more than 70 people who enjoy the different activities offered by the School. "We are capable" has been recognized in the 2018 with two national awards for its social impact and its clearly inclusive approach.
