Dénia welcomes, from this Thursday, the days of the I International Congress The Universe of Rafael Chirbes, which opened yesterday in Valencia.
The congress, which is celebrated coinciding with the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of Chirbes' first work, Mimoun, will approach, from the hand of national and international experts, biographical aspects of the author, his narrative and essays, his readings, his relationship with travel literature or his links with gastronomy, among others. The scientific direction of the congress falls on Javier Lluch-Prats, of the Universitat de València.
This morning, the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, has participated together with the director of the Chirbes Foundation, Manolo Micó, and the manager of the Fundació Baleària, Ricard Pérez, in the act of welcoming the participants of the congress that took place in the Casa de la Paraula de la maritime station.
Complementary activities
To the papers of the congress are joined on Friday 11 of May, at the 20: 00 hours, a work that fable the territory of the interior trips of Rafael Chirbes -always inhabiting shelters- with the instrumental of the pictorial work of an intense artist, Carmen Calvo. It's about the assembly That man has a world in his head.
The activities will continue on Saturday, 12 in May, with the concert of the Vibrart group in the Social Center at 19: 30 hours. Miguel Colom, violin; Fernando Arias, violoncello; and Juan Pérez Floristan, piano, will perform works by Antonín Dvorak and Dimitri Schostakovick. Tickets can be purchased by 15 euros at the box office of the auditorium from one hour before the show.
