Dénia surrenders to the Ellingtonia Jazz Ensemble, the first project born from the Jazz Festival

August 19 from 2022 - 10: 08

On Thursday night, one of the most anticipated dates of the Dénia Jazz Festival was lived in the Torrecremada gardens. The Ellingtonia Jazz Ensemble took to the stage before a crowd that awaited the performance with great anticipation. And the interest was not for less, since it is the first project born from the bowels of the festival itself.

It was the most outstanding novelty of the edition: the presentation of the first project conceived and produced by the Dénia festival. The Ellingtonia Jazz Ensemble is made up of well-known musicians on the European scene. As was already suspected with the name of the formation, the purpose of this union of great performers was to extol the figure of another of the greats of jazz: Duke Ellington.

Ellingtonia Jazz Ensemble is made up of seven excellent musicians from the most diverse backgrounds: the British trumpeter Paul Evans, the Dutch multi-instrumentalist Frank Roberscheuten on clarinet and alto sax, the French trombonist Samuel Marthé, the Polish pianist Richard Busiakiewicz, the saxophonist from Alcoy but already from Dian by adoption Enric Peidro, the double bassist from Castellón Diego Barberá and the veteran drummer from Madrid Carlos "Sir Charles" Gonzalez.

All of them got on stage around 22:30 p.m., in the presence of a crowd gathered to enjoy the long-awaited event. It was a concert that lived up to expectations, shining each of the artists in the Dianense night and delighting an audience that surrendered to the tribute to Ellington. A live show that marks the starting point for this new formation that will soon be a regular presence at the best jazz festivals and whose activity, both on stage and in the recording studios, is expected to be intense.

Next week the Dénia Jazz Festival will say goodbye with the French band Jerome Etcheberry, who will travel from Paris to the Marina Alta to put the finishing touch on this magnificent edition.
