Dénia is among the only 11 tourist destinations that are eligible for Next Generation EU funds

November 15 from 2021 - 11: 21

Turisme Comunitat Valenciana has communicated to 11 destinations in the Valencian Community that they have entered into the first call for the Extraordinary Destination Tourism Sustainability plans that are financed with Next Generation EU funds and with the direct execution action by Turisme.

Specifically, the proposals that have exceeded the score and will foreseeably be financed in the 2021 annuity are those of the municipalities of Alcalà de Xivert, Alcoy, València, Benissa, Oropesa del Mar, Finestrat, Dénia, Bocairent, Cullera, Torrevieja and La Commonwealth of the Interior Tierra del Vino.

The regional secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer, recalled that "these extraordinary plans were approved at the last Tourism Sector Conference held in July, and represent for the Valencian Community a transfer of more than 139 million euros of Next Funds Generation EU, about 50 of them attributable to the 2021 call ".

The call to access these Plans is based on a competitive competition process in which the applications submitted go through a technical evaluation process made up of representatives of the autonomous communities and the Secretary of State for Tourism, which seeks to ensure that the proposals scored by above 70 points are considered eligible.

Francesc Colomer explained that "for this first call, we have received a total of 45 applications, of which 16 have finally passed the cut-off of more than 70 points that is marked in the strategy."

Colomer has argued that "the need to establish a new scoring threshold of 75 points so that projects do not lose their essence has led to destinations that have been presented and that have exceeded 70 points, as is the case of Benidorm, not they may have benefited from this call, but they can be re-submitted for the call that opens in January 2022, since there is again a budget for new plans. "

In this sense, it should be remembered that the Valencian Community will receive a total of 139,1 million Next Generation EU Funds to be executed in three years to promote these plans for Tourist Sustainability in Extraordinary Destinations. Specifically, the annual territorial plan for 2021 has 49,5 million euros. In 2022 the endowment will be higher, with a total of 53,8 million euros; and in 2023 there will be a third call for these plans with 35,8 million euros.

Turisme technical support

Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, given the high number of projects that have been submitted, will provide technical advice to those projects that have not been able to obtain a sufficient score, with the aim of being able to improve their proposals for the 2022 and 2023 calls.

In this way, it has been made available to the technical staff of the different municipalities to give support and resolve doubts regarding their candidatures. In fact, some of those meetings, such as with the Benidorm city council, have already taken place, to improve their proposal for 2022.

Ordinary Tourism Sustainability Plans

The Destination Sustainable Tourism Strategy is divided into a program of ordinary plans and another of extraordinary plans. The ordinary plans program encompasses the Destination Sustainable Tourism Plans, where the Valencian Community already has four approved plans (Benidorm, Gandia, Peñíscola and Altea).

The head of Turisme recalled that "the first of the municipalities in the Valencian Community to enter the Destination Sustainable Tourism Plans was Benidorm, together with Gandia, and this year Peñíscola and Altea have been selected".

Very good !!! Rain of money to be distributed among the usual ones. The rest, ordinary citizens, will not see anything. And the streets, services and infrastructures will continue to be worthwhile but, yes, they are sold as tourist ... that people live here does not count as they consider us part of the exotic decoration.
