09 March 2021 - 14: 33

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has announced that, starting next Monday, March 15, and within two weeks, a total of 116.032 teachers and staff belonging to Valencian educational centers will be vaccinated.

The president has appeared at a press conference after the meeting held at the Palau de la Generalitat with the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Vicent Marzà, and the Minister of Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló, to discuss the vaccination plan to the educational community.

As highlighted by the head of the Consell, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be administered to all teaching staff and all staff with direct presence in the centers between 18 and 55 years of age. As a whole, this vaccination, the first on a massive scale, will be extended to that total of 116.032 people from public, subsidized and private non-university educational centers. To do this, vaccination spaces will be organized in 23 municipalities, spread throughout the territory.

Specifically, it is expected to vaccinate 74.000 professionals with the first dose next week and 42.032 the following week. Also, the second dose will be given 10-12 weeks later, in early June.

The president stressed that this vaccination plan is part of the actions to guarantee "maximum security" in the classrooms, and stressed that members of the educational community aged between 55 and 65 will be prioritized in the process of immunization, along with the rest of the essential services groups, and vaccinated when sufficient doses of Pfizer are available.

Without affectation in the day-to-day life of the educational centers

The Minister of Education, Vicent Marzà, has specified that the campaign will be concentrated in six days and has been programmed so that the possible secondary effects do not affect the day-to-day life of the educational centers. It will develop like this during the next days 15 (in the afternoon), 16 (all day) and 17 (all day), 18 (all day), taking advantage of the non-school days declared by the Fallas, as well as Friday 26 (in the afternoon) and Saturday 27 (all day).

In that time, the first dose will be administered to 116.032 people, representing approximately 78% of the educational community and among which are included not only teachers, but also cleaning, administration and services personnel or monitors, as has explained Marzà, who has also specified that each center will be scheduled with a day, time and place for vaccination.

The Minister has also reported that between this Tuesday and Wednesday the lists of the centers will be closed with all the data requested by the Department of Health. He has also remarked that in the vaccination spaces there will also be the presence of those responsible for Education and Health and that each center will have their lists, so that the sessions will be organized avoiding crowds.

1.000 Health professionals and 242 vaccination teams

The Minister of Health, Ana Barceló, has remarked that a "coordinated work" has been carried out to carry out this vaccination process so that it does not interfere with the activity in the classrooms, and has specified that around 1.000 will participate in this phase professionals and 242 vaccination teams.

Specifically, the municipalities that will have vaccination spaces are Vinaròs, Castelló de la Plana, Vila-real, Sagunto, Llíria, Massamagrell, Paterna, Mislata, Torrent, Requena, València, Alzira, Xàtiva, Gandia, Dénia, Alcoy, Benidorm , Elda, Sant Joan d'Alacant, Alicante, Elche, Torrevieja and Orihuela.
