23 December 2022 - 10: 01

Great news for the tourism sector in Dénia. The XIII Edition of the SICTED Awards, awarded by the Secretary of State for Tourism together with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, has chosen the capital of the Marina Alta as one of the best destinations in Spain to travel this 2023.

Specifically, Dénia has managed to win third prize in the category of Best SICTED 2023 Destination, only behind Santiago de Compostela and Málaga, first and second prize respectively. It was the city's Tourism department itself that made the announcement through social networks, thanking the tourist companies and services, "who strive every day to be part of this quality system at the destination and work hard in the best continuous [sic]».

The SICTED Awards are a public recognition of the work carried out by professionals, institutions, tourist services and destinations for the improvement of management quality.

  1. Jose Maria Calvo Pineda says:

    Good afternoon.
High zebra crossings are needed on the Las Marinas road from the town to Km 5 so that vehicles go more slowly and there is less noise.

  2. Paul says:

Denia has to greatly improve the bureaucracy of a disastrous town hall that takes a long time in bureaucratic management, building permits are very slow.

  3. daisy monferrer says:

I have lived in Madrid, La Coruña, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Paris, Shanghai, etc. And I agree with the third prize and if we had won, I would also see it deserved.

Dear Margarita, from my point of view and very objectively, in Spain there are more prepared destinations as tourist destinations, both in the north, in the east and in the south. Without commenting on some of the populations of the Islands.
I wish it were like that, first, second or third, it doesn't matter, any of those posts would have to refer to means, embellishment, endowments, means of transport...etc. I believe that Denia today lacks many of those means and endowments that can make the tourist attraction be in that place that is mentioned. You have to renew yourself, you just need to go out into the streets and see.
Examples: Wall in the surroundings of AGRUPACION MUSICAL DE DENIA (covered with concrete, rusty beams, dirty and with an abandoned aspect) this type of construction in cities like Seville are super cared for and embellished with glazing for example).
P.O. from Las Marinas, no comment
Means of public transport (taxis, buses)
Bus station made with containers (heat in summer and cold on winter nights... painful waits inappropriate to qualify)
Sidewalks that connect Esplanade Cervantes with Club Náutico……..etc
But despite everything, it is a quiet town to live and share, yes. Although as a tourist destination, I think, in my humble opinion, that it needs endowments and to get pretty.
      regards

  4. Yolanda says:

I understand that it will be by private car, because going to Denia by public transport from Valencia or from Alicante is third world.
So they will have valued other points to say that it is the third best vacation destination, certainly not transportation

    • Miranda says:

Totally agree with Yolanda: getting to Dénia from any other area of Spain (I'm not saying Europe anymore) is a journey from the Middle Ages. Gentlemen, stop looking at your navel and search, now for real, the essential REAL train. You are welcome

      • Alfons says:

        Dear Miranda,
It is exclusivity due to isolation. But it is not only a question of Denia, unfortunately there are many places in the Community, in Spain in general, that already well into the XNUMXst century continue, if not isolated, if not with serious deficiencies in terms of means of transport and communication. .
But now it turns out that Denia is a great tourist destination. The question would be: Do the inhabitants of Denia, the Denia Businesses (restaurants, hotels, shops...etc) want a significant flow of tourists to arrive?
On this issue I think there are discrepancies, but it does not take away and is an excuse for internally improving roads and public means of communication (buses and taxis). If, due to budgetary reasons, the Public does not arrive, the range must be opened to private investment and support it in favor of greater objectives, which must be based on the service. This is independent of whether someone comes to bathe, eat, etc. and leaves. Because if that were the case, there are many examples that seem to satisfy a good part of the Dianenses and it would be necessary to see what they contribute to the Public coffers. I think I understand that based on business turnover, employment is generated, corporate tax payments are settled, taxes...etc. Due to the situation of streets, sidewalks, furniture, bus station, communication by train, etc. It would not hurt to increase the contribution by attracting those flows of tourists that feed businesses, among other issues. Although they require a selection effort in markets that can contribute and cover the objectives that are sought.
But it should not be very complicated, connecting Denia with Valencia or Alicante without having to take hours. Increase some taxi operating license... etc.
But there is a maxim, "it is one thing to preach and another to distribute bread"
Let's wait with interest, the next few months, if real, small, but concrete and real solutions are proposed.
        regards

  5. Vicente says:

According to you Susana, I am sure that the noise level of all weekends and all summer of nuisance for the residents is not in the studio.
We beg the council to take measures to reduce and control this mess.

  6. Ignacio says:

Now, but where is the improvement in the quality of management for the population of Denia? The prize for the four who live from the tyranny of massive tourism while the population of Dénia suffers from disastrous management. Denia is a town with a real life society and not a tourist resort.
