The Minister of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, Carolina Pascual, has met today in the City Council of Dénia with the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, and the councilors involved in the rehabilitation project of the Torrecremada estate to adapt it to its new use as a university facility: Melani Ivars, Councilor for Education; Mr. Josep Ripoll, Councilor for Territory; and Óscar Mengual, councilor delegate to the monitoring commission of the collaboration agreement between the University of Alacant and the town hall.

The objective of the meeting has been to specify the steps to be followed to immediately put out to tender, during the month of May, the project, in which a total of € 500.000 (250.000 each administration) are invested this year, out of the total of 2,5 , XNUMX million to which it amounts.

The project, already drawn up by the city council, contemplates the rehabilitation of the building, from the mid-XNUMXth century, and the adaptation to the new teaching functionality. The execution period for the rehabilitation is 9 months and the works are expected to end in 2022, so that the degrees that the University of Alicante will impart could start in the academic year 2022-2023.

    Greetings Nuria,
First of all, thank you for your response to my brief comment.
My criticism has not had the slightest intention in evaluating the work and effort of students and students of any degree of hostelry or gastronomy, which is beyond any doubt.
He pointed out that in this municipality so lacking in infrastructures dedicated to citizenship and public activity, this project and public building is dedicated to an activity, which brings nothing or rather little to the majority of citizens.
Moreover, having facilities such as the CdT that are already perfectly suitable for this purpose.
In short, to give a space such as the Torrecremada estate to the University of Alicante for its own and exclusive use, justifying it with the supposed expense of university students and teachers…., I don't know.
Also contributing to it with suffrage for part of the expense that is not, nor will it be small, seems like nonsense to me.
This municipality has more important and urgent projects from which most of the population could benefit.
    Kind regards.

..how much rush to award a PUBLIC building to the University of Alicante for we do not know what cooking classes.
There was no other option to take advantage of the Torrecremada building that would serve the citizens of this municipality?

Because it is a university campus we all know, and we can also imagine what RESTRICTIONS this will imply for visitors to the adjacent park.
For interested university students to learn to make an omelette, we already have CdT, which is perfectly equipped for this purpose.

!!! NO TO THE CESSIONS OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS TO OTHER CAUSES TO CITIZENS OF THIS MUNICIPALITY. !!!

Hi Pau, I think you have not read the press release well.
It is a university campus aimed at future university students of the gastronomy degree, with all that that implies: construction of infrastructures, a population of students and professors that will live and spend their money in Dénia, etc.
Also take a tour of other university campuses and you will see that they are spaces open to everyone for their enjoyment, including their gardens and other spaces.
Another thing, also take a tour of the CDT and you will realize that its students, like those of the FP degree in restoration from IES Maria Ibar, know how to do more than a simple omelette. Thus, when you go to a restaurant in Dénia, or anywhere else, you will know how to better value their work, and together we can help to dignify the profession.
