Dénia meets in Valencia the Creative Cities of Gastronomy linked to the Silk Road

31 October 2018 - 08: 45

Seven cities from all over the world, belonging to UNESCO's Network of Creative Cities of Gastronomy, will meet this November in València around the historic Silk Road. They will do so within the framework of Gastrónoma, a gastronomy forum open to chefs, producers, manufacturers, distributors and artisans that will be held for three days at Feria Valencia.

The meeting of the Creative Cities has been an initiative of Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, and has had the city of Dénia as an intermediary. The cities of Tsuruoka (Japan), Jeonju (South Korea), Shundé and Macao (China), Hatay (Turkey) and Östersund (Sweden) will be present, as well as Dénia, who will assume the role of hostess in Valencia. Although the Swedish city of Östersund does not have a direct relationship with the Silk Road, its university develops research projects focused on silk and has expressed interest in forming part of the group.

The delegations of the creative cities are made up of chefs, technicians and institutional representatives. During the three days of the fair they will have individual promotion stands and an exclusive stage for cooking and tasting samples and presenting products and presentations.

Representing Dénia will be the cooks Bruno Ruiz (Aticcook) and Federico Guajardo (Hotel Los Angeles), which will hold their public demonstrations on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13, respectively. On Sunday 11, after the inauguration of the fair, a Dianense institutional delegation, headed by the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, will welcome the cities and visit their stands.

Forum Gastrónoma is, for the Consell de la Generalitat Valenciana, an opportunity to make Valencian gastronomic culture known to the UNESCO Creative Cities network and to value the Valencian tradition of silk, its production and its trade.
